  The primary goal of Russia’s involvement with the Syrian war, an involvement which is now more obvious after the mobilization of its air forces near Latakia during September and the start of air strikes in October, is not only to aid Assad and friends in the Syrian battlefront, but rather to take a political stance inside Europe itself.
